Founded in 2019 and legally registered in June 2021 as vegan Network Uganda; the Uganda Vegan Society is a movement of Vegans all over Uganda. This community’s main goal is to introduce veganism in Uganda as a better way of living.
Uganda Vegan Society is a grassroot non profit organization dedicated to promoting veganism, advocating for cage-free farming practices, and championing animal advocacy across Uganda. We do this through educational initiatives, community outreach, media, and advocacy campaigns with an aim of raising awareness about the benefits of veganism for health, the environment, and animal rights. We encourage individuals and businesses to adopt vegan practices and supporting the transition to cruelty-free alternatives. Our goal is to champion a more compassionate and sustainable future for both people and animals in Uganda. Our flagship projects include implementing vegan school lunch programs, organizing Vegan Restaurant Week events, and conducting various animal advocacy initiatives. These initiatives encompass promoting cage-free farming, advocating for reduced using of aquaculture practices, developing plant-based dietary guidelines, and supporting the growth of vegan-friendly restaurants across Uganda.
The Uganda Vegan Society is committed to advancing health, food security, animal rights, and environmental sustainability in Uganda through the promotion of plant-based diets. We aim to reduce malnutrition and diet-related diseases while advocating for sustainable agricultural practices that protect the environment and animal welfare. Our efforts include empowering women and youth, raising public awareness, and supporting research and policy changes that prioritize plant-based nutrition. Our ultimate goal is to create a future where all Ugandans have access to nutritious food, respect for animals is upheld, and environmental sustainability is ensured.
To promote, encourage and motivate people to become vegan with an aim of promoting compassion towards animals.
We envision being an organization focused on introducing a vegan lifestyle as a strategy towards ending animal abuse and control of non-communicable diseases.
